China and India spending freeze dulls mobile infrastructure market
Worldwide revenue for mobile switching subsystem (MSS) and packet core equipment grew during the second quarter, reports Infonetics Research, while radio access network (RAN) and home location register (HLR) equipment revenue declined. The end result was a relatively stable quarter for the overall mobile infrastructure market, down 0.9% in 2Q10 from 1Q10, from $8.8 billion to $8.7 billion. more

RAN equipment market down 2% due to slowdowns in N. America and Europe
Worldwide sales of radio access network (RAN) equipment are down 2% to $10 billion in 3Q07, following a 4% increase in 2Q07, according to Infonetics Research's quarterly report. Meanwhile, the number of mobile subscribers continues to climb, expected to be up 20% year-over-year by the end of 2007, and forecast to reach 4.2 billion worldwide by 2010, the report shows. more

Alcatel signs Malaysian contract
Alcatel has signed a multi-million dollar contract with Malaysia's Celcom to expand Celcom's GSM mobile network and upgrade it with an advanced Mobile Next Generation Network (Mobile NGN) solution. The Mobile NGN solution will substantially increase Celcom's ability to provide new multimedia services to its subscribers with optimized costs. more
