Large Enterprises Plan New Investments in WiFi, GPS, Push-to-Talk and RFID"

While RFID (Radio Frequency ID) and GPS (Global Positioning System) applications remain relatively rare among large enterprises, these two application areas will likely become much more common after the next round of wireless contracts are secured. Customers find poor menus and slow networks deter data usage

Macromedia has published findings of a new consumer survey conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Macromedia. The poll confirms that more than 8 out of 10 (81%) USA adults currently own a cell phone, but a combination of factors relating to consumer experience, including download speeds, confusing menu interfaces, poor graphics quality, and lack of relevant information, serve as barriers to increased use of data services. more

Buying phones and quitting smoking - a survey

Parents might be surprised to find out this holiday season that staying connected to family is a priority they share with their kids. According to a recent Harris Interactive survey commissioned by the USA based, AT&T Wireless, 67% of teens recently polled want to get and stay better connected to family and friends. The survey results also show that cell phones topped the list among teens as the preferred way to keep in touch. Sixty percent of teens surveyed said they wanted a "loaded cell phone" if they had their choice of gifts in the US$50 range, while only nine percent wanted sports or theater tickets, 12 percent said shoes, three percent a sweater and only one percent wanted a fruitcake. more

Don't own a phone - don't want a phone either

A recent poll by Harris Interactive for AT&T Wireless shows that while half (49%) of non-wireless owners in the USA feel they don't need a mobile phone, a majority (61%) has wished they had one for emergencies, when they were running late, when lost or just sitting in traffic. Many Americans who currently do not own a mobile phone (57%) also indicated they would likely feel safer or more secure if they did own one. Of women surveyed, particularly, 63% indicated that having a cell phone would offer them an added sense of security. more

Americans keen to upgrade their cell phones

A new study from Harris Interactive and Telephia has found a strong interest in wireless internet services amongst American cell phone users. The Q2 2002 Telephia/Harris Interactive National Handset Report also found that about one third (31%) of current wireless subscribers ages 18 and older plan to acquire a new handset within a year. Despite current economic conditions, this shows essentially no drop off from reported plans to upgrade six months ago (32%) and is up notably from one year ago (27%). more

Number portability a desired service in the USA

A survey for NightFire Software, conducted by Harris Interactive of US cellphone users has found that mobile number portability is a highly desired service. The survey polled more than 2,500 U.S. adult respondents (18+) of which 1,616 indicated they were mobile phone users. 65% of mobile phone users said they definitely or probably would not switch service providers within the next 12 months - 11% said they definitely or probably would switch carriers in the next 12 months. more
