Harris Stratex Networks Opens Network Monitoring Center
harris Stratex Networks has commissioned a new network operations center (NOC) at its Morrisville, NC-based headquarters. The NOC is designed to manage and monitor network infrastructure, including various subscriber access, 4G/WiMax access, IP backhaul and core network technologies, as well as network elements providing energy, security and surveillance controls. The center monitors customer networks to identify network problems before they can impact business functions or productivity, and seeks to resolve issues remotely from the NOC or by dispatching technicians to customer sites. more

A new survey of US motorists finds that most drivers who own cell phones use them while driving even though almost all of them believe it is dangerous to do so. A quarter of drivers with cell phones sends or receives text messages while driving. US Teens Going Online Wirelessly Without Limits or Controls
A survey of US internet users has found that the majority of teenagers who access the internet via a mobile phone have no parental or software based restrictions on what content they can view. In total, the Cox Communications funded survey found that nineteen percent of teens surveyed go online via their cell phone and 19 percent say their parents are unaware. The vast majority of teens (80 percent) whose parent know they go online via their cell phone say they are not given any limits or controls -- far fewer than are given boundaries on their desktop PC or laptop. more

Harris Stratex Networks to Become Fully Independent
harris has confirmed that its subsidiary, harris Stratex Networks is to be spun off as a separate company. The company first said that it was considering a sale or spin-off last year as the company no longer fitted the parent company portfolio. The harris Board of Directors has approved the spin-off to harris shareholders of its 56% majority position in the company. more
