Nokia to Open New Factory in Vietnam

­Nokia has announced plans to invest EUR200 million (US$276 million) in a new handset assembly factory, near hanoi in northern Vietnam. The company said that further investments in the factory are expected after the factory opens in 2012. The site would further expand Nokia's manufacturing network, which currently consists of ten major facilities in nine countries.  more

Two Vietnamese Networks Start LTE Trials

Two of Vietnam's mobile networks have started trials of LTE services, although all five networks in the country have been granted test licenses. The two trials are being carried out by VNPT and FPT Telecom, reports VietNamNet Bridge.  more

Motorola Wins 3G Contract in Vietnam

Motorola says that it has won a 3G network deployment contract from Vietnam based mobile network operator, Vinaphone, a subsidiary of Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT) Group. The contract covers northern Vietnam including key areas of the capital city, hanoi and is for a duration of one year.  more

Vietnam Awards 3G Licenses - Viettel Warns of Rollout Costs
