UK Operators Facing Further Cuts in Mobile Termination Rates

The UK's Competition Commission has ruled that the mobile operators should lower their landline to mobile termination rates by around 20% by 2010/11 - and to a rate which is lower than was proposed by the telecoms regulator, Ofcom.  more

Hutchison 3G Italy Ordered to Suspend Debt Collection for 3G Data Charges

Hutchison 3G Italy has been ordered to suspend debt collection procedures against customers who are contesting their mobile data charges. Austria's First 3G Videomail Service

Hutchison 3G Austria (h3g) says that it will launch the first mobile Videomail service in Austria one month ahead of Christmas, just in time to send festive video-greeting to friends and relatives. The service is facilitated by LogicaCMG's uOne solution. Videomail is the enriched multimedia version of traditional voicemail, taking advantage of the enhanced capabilities of 3G networks. With LogicaCMG's uOne platform, when a call is unanswered, the caller receives a personalised video greeting from the recipient followed by the option to record a video message in return. more

Hutchison 3G reshuffles top management

Hutchison 3G UK's Managing Director, Colin Tucker has been promoted to take on an overall role in Hutchison's rollout of their 3G networks worldwide. He has been promoted to become the Deputy Chairman of 3 UK. In addition, he will also be appointed Deputy Chairman of the HWL European Telecommunication Group and to the main boards of HWL's "3" operations in Italy, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Israel and Australia. In his new capacity, Dr Tucker will serve as a principal advisor to the HWL Group Managing Director in relation to HWL's ongoing roll-out and development of "3" services worldwide. more

Cramer wins Swedish 3G order

Cramer Systems has said that Hutchison 3G will use its network inventory solution for 3's Swedish network. 3 is using Cramer as part of an agreement with Teleca, which will install and integrate Cramer with other Operations Support Systems. Together with Teleca, Cramer will help 3 to realize savings and efficiencies as it rolls out its new 3G network in Sweden. Cramer will automate the network plan and build process, and provide fast, accurate provisioning of bandwidth to support popular 3G wireless applications. more

NEC buys stake in Hutchison 3G license holder
