Huawei and Sequans Establish Partnership for LTE

TD-SCDMA Surfaces into Commercial Daylight

Though China's government has yet to issue its 3G licenses and telecom restructuring is still ongoing, TD-SCDMA is now live, reports ABI Research analyst Hwai Lin Khor. "After many years of research and development, and many trials conducted by China Mobile, the 3G service has made a ¢â‚¬Ëœsoft' launch in eight cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, guangzhou and Shenzhen starting April 2008 on a trial basis."  more

China Unicom Sued Over SMS Spam

China Unicom and guangzhou based SMS marketing firm, Ewing Science and Technology are being sued by a Unicom subscriber surnamed Wang for sending SMS spam, reports Sina News. Wang is suing the two companies for RMB 3,333 in the Beijing Xicheng District Court, said the news article.  more

Sales of China's Communications Equipment Remains Stable in Q3

China's CCID Consulting has noted that there are four major factors behind China's telecom power supply market in 2007: TD-SCDMA going to commercial use, 2G expansion, service outsourcing and the breakthrough of abroad scale. Due to seasonal changes in the communications equipment industry, with Q1 and Q3 as low seasons, and Q2 and Q4 as midseasons, telecom power supply also follows a similar seasonal trend. Generally speaking, the sales volume reached 71 thousand sets and sales revenue reached 960 million Yuan in 2007Q3. Both of them descended over 2007Q2.  more
