GSMA Outlines Progress with RCS Initiative
The gsma has reported significant progress with its Rich Communication Suite (RCS) initiative. Japan's mobile operators, together with fixed operator NTT Corp., have joined forces to start technical work on an interoperable RCS pilot in Japan. KDDI, DoCoMo and Softbank will build the RCS pilot solution and then test IMS interoperability from the end of March 2010. more

World's First Rich Communication Suite-based Service Now Live in South Korea
The GSM Associate (gsma) has announced that the world's first interoperable communication service incorporating key elements of its Rich Communication Suite (RCS) specifications is now a live commercial service in South Korea. The services offered by the three South Korean operators commercialise key features of RCS such as phonebook driven buddy lists, presence capability that includes taglines and status, and voice calls and messaging. more

Rich Communication Suite Initiative Gains Momentum
The gsma has reported significant progress in the Rich Communication Suite (RCS) Initiative, a service providing enriched communication capabilities such as in-call multimedia sharing, conversational messaging and presence-enhanced contact management, all accessible through a user's mobile phone contact list. The initiative has generated considerable momentum across a number of fronts since the gsma brought RCS into its work programme in September 2008, including the delivery of the RCS Release 1 specification, the addition of new programme participants and the successful completion of interoperability tests. more
