AWS Spectrum Critical for the Growth of Mobile Broadband across the Americas

The licensing of the Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) radio spectrum band will put the Americas on a par with Asia and Europe in terms of 3G reach according to new research conducted by Global View Partners, a US-based research firm, in partnership with the gsma. The research found that, as a core 3G band in the Americas, AWS spectrum is vital for the growth of mobile broadband as it will accelerate the launch of new services that will drive new mobile broadband devices and applications.  more

Award the 3G Licenses Urges Ericsson to Bangladesh

Bangladeshi Confirms 3G Licenses by Next March

Bangladesh's telecoms regulator, the BTRC has confirmed that it plans to award 3G licenses in the country by March 2009 - a delay on earlier promises to offer the licenses by the end of this year. During the launch of a trial 3G network by Ericsson in August, BTRC chairman Maj Gen (retd.) Manzurul Alam put a valuation of US$200 million on the licenses.  more
