GSMA Endorses 3GPP's Integrated Mobile Broadcast Standard

­The GSM Association says that it has endorsed a new 3GPP standard, Integrated Mobile Broadcast (IMB), which should enable spectrally-efficient delivery of broadcast services, based on techniques that are aligned with existing FDD WCDMA but also allowing deployment in TDD spectrum. AWS Spectrum Critical for the Growth of Mobile Broadband across the Americas

The licensing of the Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) radio spectrum band will put the Americas on a par with Asia and Europe in terms of 3G reach according to new research conducted by Global View Partners, a US-based research firm, in partnership with the gsma. World's First Rich Communication Suite-based Service Now Live in South Korea

The GSM Associate (gsma) has announced that the world's first interoperable communication service incorporating key elements of its Rich Communication Suite (RCS) specifications is now a live commercial service in South Korea. Kenyan Government Cuts Taxes on Mobile Phone Handsets

The cost of buying a mobile phone in Kenya has dropped sharply after the government waived the import duty on mobile phones. Kenya's Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta cut the 16% VAT on new phone handsets in the government's budget statement - along with reducing import duties on a whole range of other products.  more
