Hutchison Telecom Confirms Spin-Off Plans for Hong Kong Holdings
Hong Kong based Hutchison Telecom has reported a 16% rise in full-year revenues to HK$24 billion (US$3.1 billion) and an increase of 16.8% in EBITDA to HK$6.14 billion (US$791 million). Net income dropped precipitously to HK$1.88 billion (US$242 million) from the extraordinary HK66.8 billion a year ago - which was largely due to the one-off gain from the sale of its Indian interests to Vodafone. more

Rwandan Operator Signs up 120,000 Customers in Three Weeks
Rwandan mobile operator, Rwandatel says that it signed up 120,000 new subscribers in the three weeks since it switched on its 3G and gsm network. The firm already operated a CDMA network but decided to switch to a gsm based 3G service following its acquisition by Libya's LAP Green Networks last year. more

Rwanda mobile operator launches GSM, 3G network
APA-Kigali (Rwanda) Rwanda's oldest telecommunication operator, Rwandatel, Friday launched the Global System for Mobile Communications (gsm) and 3G network for its mobile telephone, replacing its CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) platform, as it prepares for a cut-throat competition with MTN Rwanda, its main challenger. more
