India's CDMA Operators' Data Network Performance Has a Distinct Edge over GSM

Comfone records 35% annual increase in signalling traffic

CDMA Network Launched in Tanzania

A new network has launched in Tanzania, as Dovetel started its CDMA network in Dar-es-Salaam. The network, branded as Sasatel will expand its network in several phases over the next few years. The company is 65% owned by PME African Infrastructure Opportunities, an investment company established to invest in sub-Saharan African infrastructure and infrastructure related industries.  more

Cell Base Station Market Retracts Dramatically as 3G Rollout Frenzy Cools

After many years of rapid growth, the worldwide cellular base station market revenue will decline 22% in 2009, with shipments falling from the high levels of the 3G rollout frenzy of the last few years, reports In-Stat. Declining base station shipments are one clear reason for the revenue decline. However, intense competition from Chinese equipment manufacturers ZTE and Huawei have pressured base station selling prices, as operators demand that infrastructure manufacturers decrease costs.  more

Vodafone Australia Takes Control of Retail Shops

The newly merged Australian networks, Vodafone and Hutchison, known as VHA, have paid a reported AU$80 million to bring 208 outsourced Vodafone branded retail outlets back under direct control.
