Turkey's Turkcell has announced that the CEO of the Company, Muzaffer Akpinar has resigned from his CEO position. With regard to the Company's international operations, he will continue with his board membership duties, which are related to the investments in Ukraine, and at Fintur Holdings, as well as at the GSMA Association. The Company's Board of Directors shall appoint the new CEO at the next Board Meeting. more

Turkcell threatens to withdraw from Iranian GSM venture
Turkeys Turkcell has issued an update on the approval process of its GSM license agreement in Iran. As announced on September 23, 2004, the GSM license agreement has been signed between Irancell, the company that will carry out the GSM operations in Iran, and the Iranian government, which is 51% owned by Turkcell. However, they had also announced that Irancell would not become a licensed GSM operator until the license fee of US$391 million is paid. more
