Bouygues Telecom to Trial Alcatel-Lucent's IMS Platform

France's Bouygues Telecom has contracted with Alcatel-Lucent to deploy an IMS pilot network that enables the operator to test new multimedia communications services that are based on the GSM Association’s “Rich Communication Suite” specifications. Sucessful Trials of SIP-I for Voice Calls on GSM Networks

The GSM Association has completed successful trials of voice calls based on the SIP-I protocol between core networks supplied by Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks. Hosted by TeliaSonera in their Finnish and Swedish laboratories, the trials are a significant step towards the use of SIP-I to control the transmission of packet-based voice between mobile networks.  more
