Grupo Iusacell Breaks into Q2 Profit on Currency Gains

Mexico's Grupo Iusacell has reported a Q2 profit of Ps.285 million (SU$21.5 million), compared to net loss of Ps.228 million (US$17.2 million) for the same period of the previous year, due primarily to a Ps.481 million foreign exchange gain. Revenues were up slightly to Ps.2.79 billion (US$210 million), compared to Ps.2.67 billion a year ago.  more

Mexico's Grupo Iusacell Losses Deepen on Currency Depreciation

Mexico based mobile network operator, Grupo Iusacell has reported that its first quarter revenues rose slightly to Ps.2.9 billion (US$207 million), compared to Ps.2.8 billion (US$200 million) in the same period in 2008. The company registered a net loss of Ps.678 million (US$48.5 million), compared to net loss of Ps.279 million (US$20 million) for the same period of the previous year. The result was primarily due to foreign exchange losses as a result of the depreciation of the peso during this quarter.  more

Grupo Iusacell Suspends Repayments of US Dollar Debt

Mexico's Grupo Iusacell has begun talks to renegotiate its foreign currency-denominated debt, and has suspended repayments of all US-Dollar debt pending the talks. The company says that it has been affected by the strong devaluation of the Mexican peso versus the U.S. dollar and the current world economic slowdown. The Peso has declined by over 20% against the US Dollar last year.  more

Iusacell Slips into Q4 Loss on Currency Fluctuations

Mexico's Grupo Iusacell has reported that its net revenue during the fourth-quarter dropped slightly to Ps.2,982 million (US$199.7 million), compared to Ps.2,993 million in the same period in 2007. The company registered a net loss of Ps.1,978 million (US$132.5 million), compared to net income of Ps.346 million (US$23 million) for the same period of the previous year. The result was primarily due to foreign exchange losses as a result of the depreciation of the peso during this quarter.  more

Mexico's Iusacell Reports Q3 Profits Up Only Slightly

Mexico's Iusacell has announced today net revenue of Ps.2,696 million (US$201.8 million) and EBITDA of Ps.484 million (US$36.2 million) in the third quarter of 2008. In nominal terms -- considering each quarter figures in current pesos -- revenue grew 3%, and EBITDA increased 2% in the third quarter.  more

Telmap Deploys Location Based Navigation Service in Mexico

Telmap says that it has delivered a white-labeled mobile navigation application for Mexico's Grupo Iusacell. The application is being rolled out this month under the name Copiloto Ubicacel, marking Telmap's first entry into the Latin American market.
