Grameenphone IPO Expected Shortly

Bangladeshi mobile network operator, grameenphone expects to be able to proceed with its long planned stock market floatation in the very near future. The company has already raised US$60 million through the pre-IPO private placement offer. The full floatation should raise up to US$300 million, which will see the company listed on the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges.  more

Telenor Moves Grameenphone CEO Over to Hungarian Subsidiary

Telenor has shuffled its management, and is moving Mr. Anders Jensen from running its part-owned Bangladeshi subsidiary, grameenphone to take over at Hungary's Pannon from the beginning of April. He will succeed Mr. Ove Fredheim, who is leaving to take up another posting within the Telenor Group in Norway.  more

Grameenphone to Raise $65 Million in Stock Market Floatation

Bangladeshi Confirms 3G Licenses by Next March

Bangladesh's telecoms regulator, the BTRC has confirmed that it plans to award 3G licenses in the country by March 2009 - a delay on earlier promises to offer the licenses by the end of this year. During the launch of a trial 3G network by Ericsson in August, BTRC chairman Maj Gen (retd.) Manzurul Alam put a valuation of US$200 million on the licenses.  more

New CEO for Bangladesh's Grameenphone
