Gartner Says PDA Shipments Grew 32 Percent in Q3
Driven by rapid growth in cellular PDAs, worldwide PDA shipments totaled 4.5 million units in the third quarter of 2006, a 31.9 percent increase from the third quarter of 2005, according to gartner. Worldwide PDA and Smartphone Shipments Market Grew 57 Percent
Worldwide shipments of PDAs and smartphones combined totaled 42.1 million units in the first half of 2006, a 57% increase from the same period last year, according to gartner. Smartphone shipments bolstered the market growing 75.5% to reach 34.7 million units, more than four times the size of the PDA market. PDA shipments increased by 5.7% totaling 7.4 million units. more

PDA Shipments Reached Record High in Second Quarter of 2006
Worldwide PDA shipments totaled 3.7 million units in the second quarter of 2006, a 2.7% increase from the second quarter of 2005, according to gartner. This was the highest PDA shipment total of any second quarter on record. Much of the growth in the PDA market in the second quarter of 2006 was generated by vendors that were not among the first-tier one year ago, such as Mio Technology, Motorola and Danger Research. more
