Q1 Worldwide Mobile Phone Sales Declined 9.4% - Smartphones Grew 12.7%

HP and Nokia Benefiting from Declining Semiconductor Prices
The top 10 original equipment manufacturer (OEM) firms accounted for a third of all semiconductor consumption - equivalent to $91.6 billion - in 2008 according to preliminary results from gartner. This was a 3.8 percent decline from 2007. The leading applications remain PCs and mobile phones. more

Worldwide mobile phone sell-through sales reached 96.7 million units in the first quarter of 2001, and the market remains on pace for worldwide mobile terminal sales of as many as 500 million units by the end of 2001, according to gartner Dataquest.
