Nintendo Game Boys get wireless connection

Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector division says that it is supplying chipsets to enable a wireless adapter accessory for use with Nintendo's Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Advance SP. The 2.4GHz radio frequency (RF) chipset enables up to five players to play each other wirelessly, allowing for flexible, mobile game playing. The wireless adapter with the new Game Boy Advance software "Pokemon FireRed" and "Pokemon LeafGreen" will be launched in Japan first half of 2004. more

Java gaming firms to merge

IOMO, the UK mobile games developer, today announced that it has acquired fellow mobile studio Covert Operations Ltd for an undisclosed sum of cash and shares. As part of the acquisition, Niall Fraser, Managing Director of Covert Operations has joined IOMO as Development Director. All current Covert staff have been retained and relocated to IOMO's studios in Eastleigh, Hampshire, UK. more
