Telecom carriers spent $62 billion on outsourced services in 2008
Market research firm Infonetics Research is reporting that telecom carriers spent US$62 billion on outsourced services in 2008, and have plans to increase that spending. The report noted that the top revenue-generating tasks outsourced by service providers in 2008 include network maintenance, application service delivery, network build, and network planning and design. more

Fujitsu Launches "Colour Kindle" for Japanese Market
Japan's fujitsu Frontech has announced the commercial launch of its "colour Kindle" device, which it says is the world's first color e-paper mobile terminal. DoCoMo Demos Mobile Downloads at 120Mbps using LTE Test Network
fujitsu has announced that, in collaboration with NTT DoCoMo, they have conducted successful field testing for Long-term Evolution (LTE), using 4x4 MIMO technology. The testing took place in the Special Ubiquitous Zone, an area of the northern Japanese city of Sapporo in Hokkaido, designated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in 2008 as a wireless communications testing area, and used prototypes of the wireless LTE base stations developed jointly by NTT DoCoMo, fujitsu and fujitsu Laboratories which, with the use of MIMO technology, resulted in high-speed wireless transmissions in the range of 120 Mbps (using 10 MHz bandwidth) in Sapporo's urban environment. more
