Digicel Exceeds Six Million Customer Milestone in 2007
Caribbean based operator, Digicel says that it ended last year with more than six million customers, a total investment exceeding US $1.9 billion across the region and new business operations in Suriname, Guyana and El Salvador. The company's measurement is based on an approach of a subscriber only being defined as "active" if that subscriber had a chargeable event in the last 30 days. more

Digicel Acquires Tonga Mobile Operator TonFon
Digicel Pacific says that it has brought the Tonga mobile operator TonFon for an undisclosed sum. Subject to regulatory and other approvals, Digicel's acquisition also includes gaining TonFon's ISP and cable businesses. more

Intec Wins Pacific Deployment Contract from Digicel
Intec says that Digicel Pacific is deploying it's InterconnecT v7.1 across all its Pacific affiliates. Digicel Pacific is a sister company to long-term Intec customer, Digicel Caribbean. Digicel's adoption of Intec billing technology is part of a strategy that will create an integrated framework to facilitate the settlement of all wholesale traffic within its network affiliates via a centralised location. more
Digicel Launches Network in Samoa
Redknee says that it is expanding its partnership with Digicel Pacific in the South Pacific and a sister company to Digicel Group in the Caribbean and Central America. Digicel Samoa, which launched services yesterday, will use the Redknee solutions to provide mobile users in Samoa with wireless services and expand its current subscriber base. Digicel Pacific also has a license to operate a GSM network in Papua New Guinea, and was granted a license in principal from the government of fiji in April 2006, as well as an experimental license in the Solomon Islands. more

The Pan-Caribbean operator, Digicel has jumped over the Americas into the Pacific and brought Telecom Samoa. Digicel Samoa with its local partner, CSL Mobile will launch a GSM network in October 2006. Telecom Samoa's existing subscriber base of approximately 30,000 subscribers will be offered a transfer across from their existing TDMA network to the GSM network. more
