Russia Faces Mobile Phone Shortage Due to Customs Clamp-Down

Russia is facing a possible shortage of mobile phones following a clamp-down instigated by the Federal Customs Service. Under new rules, a policy of randomly checking handset boxes to ensure they were as advertised has been changed to require that every single box is opened and the contents verified, reports The Moscow Times, citing Vedomosti. VimpelCom Buys Half of Russia's Largest Phone Retailer

Russian Phone Retailer to Close Indian Subsidiaries

Russian mobile phone retailer, euroset has decided to close its two subsidiaries in India. The company opened its first outlet, under the Ultra brand at the beginning of last year. Citing a source in the company, RIA Novosti said that the subsidiaries were closed on the decision of the new owner, who is, "not interested in investing in India".  more
