Czech Republic Tries to Stop Media Talking about Phone Tapping

Journalist lobbying organisation, Reporters Without Borders has condemned a proposed criminal law amendment before the Czech republic parliament that would ban the news media from publishing any information about the tapping of phones by the police. The proposed amendment provides for sentences of one to five years in prison and fines up to 5 million crowns (€182,000) for violators.  more

EBRD To Lend $30 Million For Uzbek Mobile Telecoms

LONDON -(Dow Jones)- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Friday said it will lend $30 million to the Uzbek mobile telecommunications operator Unitel in an effort to make services cheaper and more accessible to the population.  more
