Reliance Inks Indian Network Sharing Deal with Etisalat
India's Reliance Communications has agreed to a passive infrastructure sharing deal with greenfield operator, etisalat DB. Under the terms of the agreements, etisalat and its local subsidiary would outsource their telecom infrastructure requirements for the 15 telecom circles, encompassing end-to-end tower and transmission infrastructure to Reliance Infratel and Reliance Communications, respectively. more

Nigeria - Total Market Grows to 63m as Penetration Hits 45%
The Nigerian mobile market's bullish growth showed no signs of abating in Q4 08. Quarterly net additions of 7.15m took the total number of customers over 60m, with a year-end figure of 62.99m, while the annual gain stood at 22.59m. By comparison, Q4 07 saw an increase of 3.39m and the 2007 boost was 11.92m. Meanwhile, the latest figures from Nigerian regulator the NCC show that at the end of January the total had risen to 64.16m. more

Nigeria's telecoms regulator the NCC has reported customer numbers for the fourth quarter of 2008. The total customer base reached 62.99m at the end of the year having increased by 55.9% annually. On a quarterly basis, net additions stood at 7.15m, only just short of the national and continental record of 7.38m, set in Q2 08. more

Etisalat in Talks for Tower Sharing with India's Reliance
UAE based etisalat - which recently took a 45% stake in Indian operator, Swan Telecom - is reported to be in talks with Reliance over a network infrastructure sharing agreement for the company's towers. Reliance's tower business is managed by a separate company, Reliance Infratel. more

Intec Wins Billing Contract in Ivory Coast
Billing systems provider, Intec says that it has signed a deal with Moov Côte dÃ'Ivoire, a subsidiary of Atlantique Telecom, to supply an Interconnect billing solution. Moov is the mobile brand name of Atlantique Telecom whose minority shareholder is Banque Atlantique of Côte dÃ'Ivoire and the majority shareholder etisalat. more
