Digicel Antilles Completes Microwave Radio Network Rollout

Alcatel-Lucent says that it has successfully completed the deployment of a microwave packet radio network for Digicel Antilles. The end-to-end mobile backhaul solution deployed by Alcatel-Lucent is based on the 9500 Microwave Packet Radio (MPR) that can aggregate any type of traffic - TDM, ATM and ethernet - over a converged Microwave Packet network.  more

On 14 January 2009, Nortel Networks moved beyond talk of divestiture and speculation of bankruptcy, and filed for creditor protection in Canada and the US, with Nortel UK entering administration separately under a filing managed by Ernst & Young. The company reached this point after multiple management regimes failed in their attempts to remake the company after the bursting of the telecoms bubble. Nortel's move may result in a more balanced industry structure for communications equipment.  more

EMEA Network Equipment Spending Increased 4% in 3Q08

IDC's EMEA Quarterly Network Tracker shows a quarter- over-quarter increase of 4% of network equipment spending to reach $3.8 billion in the third quarter of 2008, and a decline of 5% compared to the same period in 2007. However, when excluding residential equipment, the networking market shows a more positive picture, with 8% quarterly growth and a decline of 1% compared to the same period last year.  more

Landline Improvement Spending Reaches Levels Not Seen Since 2000

BrT chooses Alcatel-Lucent IP/MPLS solution
