Joint European 100G R&D field trial (100GET) on existing optical platform
Ericsson and Deutsche Telekom have successfully made a field trial of higher bandwidth optical transmission. Besides others, Ericsson and DT are engaged in the public funded R&D project 100GET, where this test took place. The new technology (delivered in this trial from the Marconi MHL 3000 WDM platform) will accommodate customer's steady growing broadband services in fixed and mobile broadband networks. more

Ericsson to build 3G network for Turkcell
Ericsson has signed a contract with Turkey's dominant mobile network, Turkcell, as the main supplier to build a complete WCDMA/HSPA network and a range of related services. 3G network preparations started in February, and previous comments from the company suggest that it is looking at a partial launch in June. more

Airport Communter Buses to Get Free Wi-Fi Service
A fleet of buses running between Luton Airport and London, UK have been fitted out with free Wi-Fi services for passengers. The fleet of buses, operated by Arriva has been equipped with Icomera's Moovbox M Series mobile broadband gateway that provides Wi-Fi connectivity on the move with actual download speeds in excess of two megabits per second. The Green Line vehicles also leverage the Moovbox for GPS-based location, enabling Arriva staff to monitor and track the fleet's vehicles in real-time. more
