Ericsson Wins IMS Contract with O2 Germany
ericsson has been selected to provide Telefónica O2 Germany with an IMS core system with an IMS-based VoIP application server. These two contracts include hardware deployment and software systems integration services. ericsson will also integrate in Germany O2's VoIP application server using IMS, making services such as IP Centrex, business trunking or presence functionality available to all fixed and mobile users. more

Telefonica Conducts 1st Tests of LTE Network in Spain
Spain's Telefónica has conducted its first tests on a live LTE network, installed at its Demonstrations Centre in Madrid. These initial real demonstrations or tests consisted of a VoIP call, and a videocall using an LTE mini-network installed by ericsson; a video conference, and data and images downloads at speeds in excess of 140 Mbps, around 10 times those possible with current 3G networks using HSPA technology. more

IMS equipment market up 94% in 2008, subscribers to triple in 2009
Communications market research firm Infonetics Research says in a report that worldwide sales of IMS (IP multimedia subsystem) equipment, including HSS (home subscriber servers) and CSCF servers, nearly doubled in 2008 over 2007, up 94%. Fixed-line VoIP is remaining the primary application deployed over IMS. more

Carriers name Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson and Nokia Siemens top IMS vendors
A new study by Infonetics Research that provides an in-depth view of service provider thinking and plans for IMS equipment and services, including service provider perceptions of leading IMS vendors, names Alcatel-Lucent, ericsson, and Nokia Siemens as the "top IMS equipment manufacturers." According to the study, roughly 3/4 plan to offer fixed VoIP over IMS by April 2009. more
