Shipment of Taiwan's Basic/Feature Phone Industry Exceeds Forecasts
According to research of the Taipei-based Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC), shipment volumes of the Taiwanese basic/feature phone industry in the first quarter of 2009 has been estimated at 10.21 million units. Even though shipment volume declined sequentially in the first quarter, it was still higher than the 9.42 million units originally forecast. more

Nokia Suspends Sales of Touschseen 5800 Handset in USA
Nokia has been forced to suspend sales of its flagship touchscreen phone following complaints that the phone is having problems with the US phone networks. Nokia Siemens Networks Wins Chinese Contracts Worth $1.1 Billion
China Mobile and China Unicom have separately signed agreements to purchase 2G and 3G mobile equipments and services from Nokia Siemens Networks during 2009. Under the framework agreements Nokia Siemens Networks will roll out WCDMA networks for China Unicom in 11 provinces across China. iPhone in China: China Mobile or China Unicom?

reported in 2007. While many expected to see the two shake hands, no deal has
yet been announced and it is now rumoured that Apple will partner with China
