Econet Zimbabwe Surprised by Demand for 3G Services
Econet Wireless Zimbabwe reports that it has been overwhelmed by demand for its new data services, and has virtually exhausted all its initial capacity. This has prompted its parent company to authorise a US$30 million roll-out to speed up the expansion of the 3G service countrywide. more
Econet Launches 3G Network in Zimbabwe
Zimbabwean operator, Econet Wireless has formally launched its 3G network. The 3G service is initially be available in Harare, and is being extended to all the country's major cities by the end of the year. Douglas Mboweni, Econet CEO said for business users, the most important application "will not only be what you can do with your cellphone but what you can now do with your computer or laptop". more
