Andrew Wins Upgrade Contract for German High Speed Train

Andrew says that it has won a multi-year contract for communications systems that will provide improved wireless coverage inside Deutsche Bahn's high speed train ICE in Germany. Andrew in-train repeaters will be installed in all 250 ICE train sets covering nearly 1,500 carriages - the majority of the ICE fleet - that will feature high quality, high-availability mobile telephony signal coverage for passengers and official rail communications.  more

i-mode to launch in Germany from Friday

KPN Mobile has said that customers of its German subsidiary, e-plus can reserve an i-mode handset and subscription from this Friday. i-mode will go on sale at German retail outlets on 16th March, 2002. e-plus announced at a press conference in Dusseldorf today that the NEC i-mode handset (N21i) will sell at US$287. A monthly i-mode subscription will cost US$2.60. The price of services provided by content partners will range from free to US$2.30 per month. more
