Nokia Siemens Networks has helped Indonesian operator, Telkomsel to increase its HSDPA throughput by moving toward a flat architecture with Direct Tunnel, a software upgrade to the packet core network that simplifies the network and the data flow between the end-user and the Internet. Telstra Activates "3G Direct Tunnel" on its HSDPA Network
Australia's Telstra has activated an important new feature for the Mobile Packet Core network called 3G Direct Tunnel on their WCDMA/HSPA network. The equipment for this was provided by Ericsson. The 3G Direct Tunnel feature provides a direct connection between the 3G networks RNC (Radio Network Controller) and GGSN (Gateway GPRS Support Node), hence capacity increase to Telstra's mobile packet core network. more
