ZTE Wins Jamaican WiMAX Deployment Contract

Digicel Plans Mobile WiMAX Network for Jamaica

­digicel Jamaica has detailed its plans to roll out a nationwide mobile WiMAX network, which it aims to launch in the second quarter of next year. At launch, the network will over 60% of the population with coverage in all 14 parishes -- with further roll out continuing across Jamaica driven by customer demand. Network roll out commences later this month.  more

Four Companies Interested in Jamaican WiMAX Licenses

Four companies have expressed an interest in securing a WiMAX license in Jamaica, although only three licenses are available. An unnamed source at the Spectrum Management Authority told the local Jamaica Gleaner newspaper that while digicel Jamaica is one of the bidders, the other three companies could not be identified.  more
