Dialog Telekom Chooses GSMA's PathFinder Service
Sri Lanka's Dialog Telekom has signed up to the GSM Association's PathFinder Service, a GSMA-managed service operated by NeuStar that provides the missing link for operators as they make the move to all-IP mobile networks, tackling critical issues around routing, interoperability, number resolution and service and revenue assurance. By automatically translating phone numbers into IP addresses, PathFinder will help Dialog Telekom to facilitate the delivery of a wide variety of new feature rich IP-based services as well as ensure quality of service. more

Dialog Telekom Testing HSPA+ Upgrade in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka's Dialog Telekom is reported to have started a pilot launch of a HSPA+ (HSPA Evolution) upgrade on its network, which will boost download speeds to a peak rate of 21Mbps. The typical download speeds are closer to 8Mbps in real life tests carried out by Australia's Telstra network. more

Debt ratings agency, Fitch has downgraded Sri Lanka's Dialog Telekom PLC's (Dialog) National Long-term rating to 'AA(lka)' from 'AAA(lka)'. Fitch has also downgraded the National Long-term rating on Dialog's outstanding cumulative redeemable preference shares of LKR4.5bn to 'AA-(lka)' (AA minus(lka)) from 'AA+(lka)'. The Outlook has been revised to Negative from Stable. more

Dialog Telekom to Deploy Solar and Wind-Powered Base Stations in Sri Lanka
Sri Lankan operator, Dialog Telekom is to deploy ten solar and wind-powered base stations in the country. The trial, which will deploy five off-grid and five on-grid base stations, has seen two sites go live this month and a further eight sites will go live in March and April this year. The goal of the trial is to use a number of different scenarios with equipment from eight different vendors to test the range of options available and the commercial viability of rolling out mobile networks using renewable forms of energy. more
