Namibia to offer a second GSM license

The Namibian Communications Commission (NCC) has issued a tender document for bidders for a second GSM license in the country. A preliminary meeting is to be held with interested bidders on July 23rd, according to a statement from the regulator. The tender will close on September 4th 2003, when the evaluation process will begin. No exact date for the award of the license was given though. more

Namibia prepares to award second GSM license

Detecon International is providing support to Namibia for the expansion of its mobile network. By adding another provider, the south African country wants to improve communications opportunities for its citizens and open up the mobile network market to more competition. The German consulting company is advising the national telecommunications regulation authorities during the awarding of a second mobile network license. The project has a volume of US$260,000 and will run for a period of ten months.  more
