India's Department of Telecom (DoT) has reportedly delayed the implementation of an plan to block all mobile phones without an official IMEI number - which could have cut some 25 million handsets off the mobile networks. The ban on the handsets was due to come into effect this week.  more

India to Shut Down 25 Million Mobile Phones in January

It is being reported that as many as 25 million mobile phones could be cut off in India from next month - following a security clamp down on unregistered mobile phones following ongoing terrorist attacks in the country. According to the Mobile World subscriber tracker, the country ended September with around 315 million mobile phone subscribers.  more
