Low-price Mini Notebook PC Shipments to Reach 8.02 Mln Units in 2008
According to MIC (Market Intelligence Center, Taiwan), an ICT industry research institute based in Taipei, worldwide low-price mini notebook PC shipment is expected to reach 8.02 million units in 2008. Nokia Tops Greenpeace Green Ranking
The environmental pressure group, Greenpeace has published a 'Guide to Greener Electronics', which ranks companies on their use of harmful chemicals and electronic waste recycling. The organisation says that the guide will be used to create demand for toxic-free electronics which can be safely recycled, by informing consumers about company performance on these two issues. The scorecard ranks the 14 top mobile and PC producers and currently all fail to get a green ranking. more

Worldwide Handheld Market Shrinks - Again
The second quarter of 2006 saw the worldwide handheld devices market experience its tenth consecutive quarter of year-over-year decline. According to IDC's Worldwide Handheld QView, vendors shipped a total of 1.4 million devices, a 26.3% decrease from the same quarter one year ago. For the first half of the year, vendors shipped a total of 2.9 million units, down 21.4% from the 3.7 million units shipped during the first half of 2005. more
PDA Market Shrinks as Mobiles Take Customers
Following a holiday quarter in which worldwide shipments of handheld devices topped two million units, the worldwide market for handheld devices began 2006 with its ninth consecutive quarter of year-over-year decline. According to IDC's Worldwide Handheld QView, worldwide shipments of handheld devices totaled 1.5 million units, down 22.3% from the same quarter a year ago. more
Handheld Market Experiences Year-Over-Year Decline
The worldwide market for handheld devices swelled to its largest quarterly shipment volume all year, reaching 2.2 million units during the fourth quarter, growing 37.6% from the previous quarter. According to IDC's Worldwide Handheld QView, growth was driven largely by a combination of holiday sales and larger shipment volumes of devices that were introduced earlier in the year. But despite reaching its zenith during the year, shipment volumes decreased 18.2% from the same quarter a year ago. For full year 2005, shipments of handheld devices reached 7.5 million units, a 16.7% decrease from the 9.1 million units shipped in 2004. more
Further Decline in the Handheld Market
The worldwide market for handheld devices experienced its seventh consecutive quarter of year-over-year decline in the third quarter of 2005. According to IDC's Worldwide Handheld QView, device shipments decreased 16.9% year over year and fell 8.8% sequentially in 3Q05 to 1.6 million units. more
