Spansion and Samsung Settle Patent Litigation Lawsuit:
Spansion, the world's largest pure-play provider of Flash memory solutions, has announced that it has settled its patent litigation lawsuits with Samsung Electronics. As part of the settlement, Samsung will pay Spansion US$70 million and Spansion and Samsung Electronics Company have exchanged rights in their patent portfolios in the form of licenses and covenants subject to a confidential settlement agreement. more

Qualcomm Responds to Nokia Lawsuits
Qualcomm has responded to Nokia's decision to file complaints against the company in Germany and the Netherlands. Although Qualcomm says that it has not seen the complaints, Nokia's press release alleges that Qualcomm's patents are exhausted with regards to Nokia's products placed on the European market that contain chipsets supplied to Nokia by Texas Instruments. more

Nokia Fights Qualcomm Legal Actions
Nokia says that it has filed a complaint against Qualcomm with the delaware Court of Chancery in the US. Nokia is asking the Court to order Qualcomm to abide by its written contractual obligations to international standards setting organizations to license intellectual property essential to GSM and UMTS technology standards on fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms. Additionally, Nokia is seeking a Court order to affirm that Qualcomm is not entitled to injunctive relief in relation to alleged infringement of patents declared essential to a standard. more
