ZTE Tops China Mobile 3G Contract

ZTE is reported to have picked up just over a third of the latest TD-SCDMA tender from China Mobile, reports the Interfax news agency. Huawei won 22% of the contract, while datang Telecom was awarded 16%. Other equipment manufacturers share the remainder, every company to have 5-6%.  more

ZTE, Other 3G Device Providers Play Active Role in Deploying 3G Networks in China

Nokia Siemens and Ericsson May Win 20% of Chinese 3G Tender

China Mobile is expected to announce the winners of its US$4.4 billion 3G network tender, with Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) and Ericsson both expected to receive around 10% of the contract each. The contract is for the second phase of China Mobile's trial TD-SCDMA based service which aims to expand the network to a further 28 cities.  more

China Mobile Planning to buy 2 Million 3G Handsets

China Mobile is reported to be planning a TD-SCDMA handset tender later this year which could be worth between US$500 and US$780 million. China Mobile, which has already spent a similar sum to purchase 3G network equipment for 10 cities, will buy two million TD-SCDMA phones in October, according to Chen Haofei, the secretary general of TD-SCDMA Forum. The handsets are expected to retail for between US$260 and US$390 per unit. more

Analog Supporting Chinese 3G Standard

Analog Devices has announced that China's ZTE Corporation has designed it's SoftFone-LCR chipset and datang Mobile's solution into its new 3G TD-SCDMA U310 handset and MU100 data card. Analog Devices' SoftFone-LCR chipset is based on the popular RAM-based SoftFone architecture also used in Analog Devices' GSM/GPRS and EDGE chipsets. The chipset incorporates a digital baseband processor, which is based on Analog Devices' Blackfin Processor, achieving more than 250 MHz performance and exceptionally low power consumption through Blackfin's Dynamic Power Management capability. more
