Just Under 3 Billion SIM Cards Shipped in 2008

SIMalliance, the global association of SIM card manufacturers has reported that global SIM card shipments exceeded 2.9 billion units during 2008, with strong demand from the emerging markets of India, China, Asia Pacific and Latin America contributing to a 29 per cent increase on shipments over the previous year.  more

The world's first TD-SCDMA handheld call demonstrated

In an important step of their collaboration, RTX Telecom and PRISMA Engineering have tested their TD-SCDMA 3G terminal against a live network. The phone is a handheld and battery operated device with voice and data capabilities and a multi-media capable user interface. Thus it is ideal to demonstrate the 3G services that the TD-SCDMA networks will offer their future users. more
