China Wants TD-SCDMA to Take 20% of 3G Market by 2020

The Chinese government is seeking to push its home grown 3G standard overseas and has set a target to take 20 percent of the overseas 3G subscriber market by 2020. The plans were revealed in a long-term development plan for mobile communication drafted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), an industry expert has told the Interfax news agency.   more

Dell Reported to be in Talks for Chinese Smartphones

Dell Computers, which has been rumoured to be entering the smartphone market for several years, is now hotly rumoured to be in talks with China Mobile to launch its first range of handsets in the country. Nokia Siemens and Ericsson May Win 20% of Chinese 3G Tender

China Mobile is expected to announce the winners of its US$4.4 billion 3G network tender, with Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) and Ericsson both expected to receive around 10% of the contract each. Datang Trying to Sell TD-SCDMA Investment

China's Datang Mobile is looking to sell its stake in TD-SCDMA supplier, T3G Technology according to a notice posted on the website of Beijing Equity Exchange. The company currently owns 32.11% of T3G, which it values at around US$18 million. The sale comes soon after the financial collapse of Commit, another TD-SCDMA vendor.  more
