T-Mobile UK has signed a deal to outsource its PrePay customer care to a call centre in the Philippines. WNS Holdings, a business process outsourcing (BPO) firm signed the letter of intent with T-Mobile to handle all inbound customer queries, including managing promotions, charges and credits and roaming, and alert new customers to the range of subscription benefits.  more

Carriers to Spend $1.4 Trillion on Outsourcing Over 5 Years - report

With increased competition and lower-margin products cutting into their profitability, wireline and wireless carriers will be spending nearly $1.4 trillion over the next five years on outsourced services in order to reduce costs, says a new market research report from Insight Research. Australian Operator Takes on Outsourced Call Center

The Australian call center firm, Stellar says that it has signed an agreement with one of Australia's mobile providers (no names mentioned) to provide inbound sales to support significant growth in call volumes. The 80-seat inbound sales solution will run from 8am till midnight, seven days a week, and will help support the continued growth of the mobile telecommunications provider. more

Convergys Wins 3G Billing Contract

Convergys Corp. says that it has signed a 5-year professional services outsourcing contract with Taiwan's VIBO Telecom, to manage the 3G operators back office operations. Under this new contract, Convergys will continue to manage all aspects of VIBO's customer care and billing systems, extending a contract first signed in 2005. As part of the 2005 agreement, Convergys implemented and integrated its Infinys rating and billing and mediation software with VIBO's third party CRM, activation, provisioning, and partner management platforms. more
