The essence of the SiRFstarIV breakthrough is its ability to continually maintain "better-than-hot-start" conditions in the GPS receiver for fast location fixes without having to be kept fully turned on all the time and draining precious battery power. CSR launches highly integrated wireless single chip
UK based csr has announced the launch of its seventh generation BlueCore silicon, which integrates Bluetooth v2.1+EDR, Bluetooth low energy, eGPS, and FM transmit and receive technologies on a single chip. BlueCore7 includes csr's proprietary AuriStream voice CODEC, which produces the quality of a fixed line call, when using a Bluetooth connection, and is capable of a 30% reduction in power consumption. more

However, chipset manufacturers now have solutions in place that will permit the integration of GPS in handsets at lower costs, and provide significant improvements in terms of accuracy, time-to-first-fix, and reception in indoor environments.
