Higher Spend in Operator Stores Means Higher Spend on Mobile Services

M:Metrics is reporting a direct correlation between the venue of handset purchase and subscribers' monthly spend on mobile services. The firm found that the majority -- 56 percent -- of users who bought their handset at an operator store pay more than $60 per month for mobile service. In contrast, consumers who spent less than $60 on monthly mobile services were more likely to have purchased their phones through indirect retailers such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Radio Shack or Circuit City. more

Peugeot Completes Mobile Marketing Campaign

The mobile marketing firm, Puca has announced that it has completed a mobile phone based advertising campaign in Ireland, to launch the new Peugeot 207 motorcar. The campaign, which included billboard, mailing, press and radio advertising, encouraged target customers to download a link to a mobile internet website which they could view on their handset. It has resulted in a large volume of responses, and with 40% of respondents providing personal contact details, the campaign has proven to be very successful in generating test drives. more

Telvista to relocate US call center operations through acquisition or alliance

Call center operator Telvista, owned by Mexican telecoms conglomerate Grupo Carso, plans to relocate operations in the US to Argentina by the end of the year, local newspaper Infobae reported. more

Convergys Wins 3G Billing Contract

Convergys Corp. says that it has signed a 5-year professional services outsourcing contract with Taiwan's VIBO Telecom, to manage the 3G operators back office operations. Under this new contract, Convergys will continue to manage all aspects of VIBO's customer care and billing systems, extending a contract first signed in 2005. As part of the 2005 agreement, Convergys implemented and integrated its Infinys rating and billing and mediation software with VIBO's third party crm, activation, provisioning, and partner management platforms. more

UK & Germany Set the Pace of Wireless Enterprise Adoption

Strategy Analytics has released an updated forecast of business mobility revenues in W. Europe, which predicts that recurring operating expenditures on wireless data solutions in W. Europe will approach US$12.7 billion annually by 2010, up from US$7.9 billion in 2005. Messaging-centric productivity tools including SMS, Instant Messaging and email will continue to take the lion's share of revenues, holding steady at 90 percent throughout the forecast period. more

TV Broadcaster Extends Mobile Content Contract

Mobile Interactive Group (MIG) says that it has won a 12 month extension on its current contract with the UK television broadcaster, ITV.
