Deutsche Telekom Posts Q1 Loss on T-Mobile Write Down
Germany's Deutsche Telekom has reported a net loss of EUR 1.1 billion (US$1.46 billion) for the first-quarter of this year, compared to a profit of EUR 900 million a year ago. The loss was largely blamed on an expected EUR 1.8 billion (US$2.4 billion) write-down on the valuation of T-Mobile UK. Adjusted profit was EUR 700 million (US$931 million), which is a 12.7% decline on the previous year, reflecting a slight downward trend in operational terms. more

OTE Sells Macedonian Mobile Network to Telekom Slovenia
Greece's OTE has sold its Macedonian subsidiaries, Cosmofon and Germanos Telekom Skopje to Telekom Slovenije for EUR190 million (US$251 million). The transaction is being processed through OTE's cosmote subsidiary, OTE MTS Holding. more

Greece OTE Q2 Profit Rises to $237 Million
Greece's Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE) has reported that its second-quarter profit rose 16.6 percent to €159.3 million (US$235.6 million). Operating income before depreciation and amortisation (OIBDA) rose 6.3 percent to €578.8 million (US$851 million), while revenue rose 2.5 percent to €1.6 billion (US$2.35 billion), helped by growth at its cosmote mobile phone division. more
