Greece - Accelerating Growth with 150% Penetration in Sight
The four Greek operators have now all reported Q4 2006 results. Although the 100% penetration landmark was reached as long ago as March 2004, the market shows no sign of slowing and, if anything, the rate of new connections is actually increasing. Two New 3G Licenses for Romania
Romania's telecoms regulator, IGCTI says that it has awarded the country's remaining two 3G concessions to cable operator RCS&RDS and CDMA450 operator, Telemobil - trading as Zapp. The two companies obtained the best scores after the evaluation according to the task book criteria. RCS&RDS gained 90.41 points and Telemobil SA 72.71 points. cosmote Mobile obtained 59.74 points and Radiocom 49.58. more

Vodafone Terminates Greek Retail Partnership
Vodafone Greece says that it terminated the availability of its products and services through Germanos retail chain in Greece effective from last week. This decision comes due to the new ownership status of Germanos, becoming part of competitive network after a buy-out. A couple of weeks ago, rival operator - cosmote increased its state in the publicly listed retailer to just under 63%. more

Bulgarian Operator Profit Surges
The Bulgarian network operator, Globul has reported revenue of BGN305.5 (US$200) million for the first six months of 2006, a 33% year-on-year growth. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) for the period January to June 2006 reached BGN113.3 (US$74.3) million, marking annual growth of 52.2%. Globul first half of 2006 net revenue stood at BGN29.7 (US$19.5) million, a massive hike from BGN12.4 (US$8.1) million for the same period of 2005. more
