Alcatel-Lucent says that it has successfully deployed a 3G network for the mobile operator SRR in the island nation of Réunion. The first phase of this UMTS/HSPA wireless network deployment was made in 2008 mostly in Réunion's Saint-Denis commune and in the island's main towns. more

Ericsson Wins 3G Contract in Northern Cyprus
Ericsson has won a contract in Turkish Cyprus from Kuzey Kibris Turkcell - a subsidiary of Turkcell - as the sole supplier of a WCDMA/HSPA network. Under the agreement Ericsson will provide a WCDMA/HSPA network, including radio access and packet core network and the Ericsson Mobile Softswitch Solution. more

Guamcell Upgrades Backhaul Network
Guam based mobile operator, Guamcell has awarded a cellular backhaul contract to Exalt Communications. Guamcell, which operates a CDMA network on the island of Guam, launched a GSM overlay across the island in late 2007. The GSM service includes a GPRS core network, and is planning to deploy 3G. more

Huawei Wins Indonesian Network Contract
Huawei has been chosen by AXIS, Indonesia's newest GSM and 3G operator, as a key partner in rolling out its full service national network. Under the agreement, Huawei will design, build, deploy and manage AXIS' 2G/3G network within the island of Java, Bali, Lombok, Kalimantan and Sulawesi for a period of three years to 2010. Specifically, Huawei will be responsible for close to 4,000 sites across the country, on GSM and 3G radio access, optical and microwave transmission. more

Ericsson Supplying Vietnamese CDMA to GSM Migration Kit
Ericsson has signed its largest single contract in Vietnam, amounting to US$450 million, to develop and modernize Hanoi Telecom's nationwide mobile network. The partnership, a first in Vietnam, will also see Ericsson managing and operating the network under a full-scope managed services contract. more

Alcatel-Lucent Wins Italian WiMAX Contract
Alcatel-Lucent has been selected by Italy's Linkem Spa to provide a turnkey WiMAX 802.16e-2005 network (also called Rev-e) in the Lazio Region. Terracina (in Latina Province) will be the first city reached by the service. Linkem is a holder of recent WiMAX licenses in 13 Italian regions, spreading from north to south and reaching 80% of the Italian population. more

Alcatel-Lucent Wins 3-Year GSM Contract in Burundi
Alcatel-Lucent has been awarded a 3-years frame agreement by Africa Cellulaire (Africell) Burundi, a subsidiary of VTEL Holdings, which will start operating under its new "TEMPO" brand, for the delivery of a complete nation-wide GSM/EDGE network. Ericsson Wins GSM Contract in Mumbai, India
Ericsson has announced that it has been selected by Indian operator, Idea Cellular as the sole supplier of its GSM network in Mumbai, India. The parties have also entered a managed services partnership. Under the four-year agreement, Ericsson will supply radio access, microwave transmission, and core network equipment, including Ericsson's Mobile Softswitch Solution. Ericsson will also be responsible for network deployment and integration, as well as managed services including network and field operations. more
