World's First Femtocell Standard Published by 3GPP

Three trade bodies, The Femto Forum, 3GPP and the Broadband Forum have jointly announced that the world's first femtocell standard has been officially published by 3GPP, paving the way for interoperability between different vendors' access points and femto gateways. The new standard, which forms part of 3GPP's Release 8, and interdependent with Broadband Forum extensions to its Technical Report-069 (TR-069), has been completed in just 12 months following cooperation between the three groups.  more

Aeroflex TM500 Test Mobile Adds UE CAT4 LTE Support

Aeroflex says that it has achieved a world first with the addition of UE CAT3 and UE CAT4 support to its TM500 LTE Test Mobile. As implementation of the LTE specification progressively moves towards the delivery of bandwidth-hungry applications users demand, LTE CAT 3 and CAT 4 data channels support data rates of up to 150Mbps on the downlink and 50Mbps on the uplink. The UE CAT 3 and UE CAT 4 support on the TM500 LTE now enables infrastructure vendors to fully verify and validate the performance of their eNBs.  more

Nokia Siemens Networks gives voice to LTE

Telkomsel Boosts Mobile Broadband Capacity with 3G Direct Tunnelling

Nokia Siemens Networks has helped Indonesian operator, Telkomsel to increase its HSDPA throughput by moving toward a flat architecture with Direct Tunnel, a software upgrade to the packet core network that simplifies the network and the data flow between the end-user and the Internet. It enables operators to take the first step towards the all-IP foundation of LTE (Long Term Evolution), which mandates flat architecture with a dedicated node for data traffic control.  more

Starent Networks to Provide Mobile Multimedia Core for Motorola's LTE Platform

Huawei Wins LTE Contract for Oslo, Norway

Japan's KDDI to Overlay LTE on CDMA Network
