Ubiquisys Unveils Further Details of Self-Organising Femtocells

Femtocell developer, Ubiquisys has released details of a new self-organising femtocell system. World's First Femtocell Standard Published by 3GPP

Three trade bodies, The Femto Forum, 3GPP and the Broadband Forum have jointly announced that the world's first femtocell standard has been officially published by 3GPP, paving the way for interoperability between different vendors' access points and femto gateways. The new standard, which forms part of 3GPP's Release 8, and interdependent with Broadband Forum extensions to its Technical Report-069 (TR-069), has been completed in just 12 months following cooperation between the three groups.  more

HSPA expected to drive femtocell market; operators taking cautious approach

High speed packet access (HSPA) is shaping up to be the key driver behind future femtocell adoption, says a new report from analyst firm Infonetics Research. Femto Forum Steps Up Drive For Harmonised Femtocell Network Integration

The Femto Forum, the independent industry association that supports femtocell deployment worldwide, has launched a programme to help harmonise the integration of femtocells into mobile core networks. Operator demand to launch femtocells quickly has led to the development of many different methods for integrating potentially millions of femtocells into the network core. Although this is not holding up the commercial deployment of femtocells, this programme will help unite these different approaches in the longer term and set the stage for the development of future standards.  more

Ubiquisys to Provide Modular Femtocell System for SOHOS and SMES

UK based Ubiquisys has shown off new femtocell systems for businesses based on its existing residential product. The European Market for Femtocells is Not Quite There Yet

New analysis from Frost & Sullivan estimates that there will be 21.392 million femtocell subscribers with 10.696 million femtocells deployed across Western Europe in 2010, and this will reach 39.403 million femtocell subscribers with 15.761 million femtocells deployments by 2011.  more
