Cincinnati SMSA settles lawsuit

Cingular Wireless, the general partner of Cincinnati SMSA, the cellular partnership in which convergys owns a 45% limited partnership interest, has settled a long-standing complaint pending against the cellular partnership for US$22 million. The complainant, Westside Cellular claimed that a group of defendants, including the cellular partnership, violated 1985 and 1993 Public Utilities Commission of Ohio orders to provide services to resellers at fair prices, and denied plaintiff access to the market. more

Convergys buys bankrupt billing company

convergys Corporation has purchased the business and assets of the bankrupt Scottish firm, TelesensKSCL, a subsidiary of TelesensKSCL of Cologne, Germany, from the receivers. Receivers were called in on June 26, 2002, by the Royal Bank of Scotland, at the request of the Board of Directors of TelesensKSCL. more

Portuguese network gears up for GPRS billing

Openet Telecom has said that it is providing FusionWorks Mediation and FusionWorks Pre-Paid software to TMN the wireless operator subsidiary of Portugal Telecom. TMN plans to roll out GPRS services in 2002 and to acquire up to 300,000 GPRS subscribers within the first year before rolling out UMTS in 2003/4. In order to be able to meet these targets TMN saw the need for a full review of its mediation, pre-paid, rating and billing requirements. AT&T Wireless affiliate boosts backend software

convergys Corporation has announced that the USA based, Triton PCS has signed a new contract to use Atlys in a service bureau environment. Atlys is convergys' modular end-to-end billing and customer care product. This contract replaces an agreement signed in 1998 and extends the relationship with convergys through 2006. Triton PCS, a cellular network, based in the Southeast, is replacing a legacy convergys billing product to utilize Atlys' billing capabilities, including support for wireless number portability (WNP). The company offers its services in 37 markets under the brand name SunCom, a member of the AT&T Wireless Network. more

Convergys and Logica win second billing contract with Connect Austria

convergys has announced that Austrian mobile operator ONE will use its Geneva Active Revenue Management (ARM) software to replace its legacy billing system. ONE will migrate all of its GSM customers to Geneva in a major implementation project supported by Logica. In February, convergys and Logica announced their joint project at ONE and the selection of Geneva to support the delivery of ONE's GPRS services. Geneva has already been in live use for several months rating GPRS events, with these rated events being billed in the legacy system. ONE has now moved to the next step in its staged implementation plan with the introduction of Geneva to rate and bill all services. Geneva is being integrated with Comptel's mediation platform, with SAP and with ONE's CRM system. The Geneva software will also be integrated with the company's data warehouse system in order to allow sophisticated analysis of customer spending patterns. Logica is supporting the implementation and migration of ONE's 1.3 million GSM customers. When all GSM subscribers have been migrated to Geneva, the legacy billing system will be phased out and Geneva will be used for rating and billing all services, including not only mobile voice and data but also fixed line telephony and Internet services." more
