Russia's United TeleSystems (comstar) says that it has launched its WiMAX network in Armenia and introduced the "comstar" brand in the local market. Nortel Providing WiMAX Kit for Moscow Network
Russia based comstar has selected Nortel equipment to develop the first mobile WiMAX network in Moscow. 160 base stations are expected to be built in Moscow by the end of 2008. The overall investments in the project are expected to amount to approximately US$20 million in 2008. more

Comstar Completes Building First WiMAX Network in Armenia
Russia based, comstar has announced that its Armenian subsidiary, Cornet-AM, an Internet services provider has built the first mobile WiMAX network in the Republic of Armenia. The wireless broadband network, based on the 802.16e standard, consists of 24 base stations which are connected to each other via radio relay lines and rented telecommunications channels. Airspan Networks has provided network equipment. more

Comstar to Build First WiMAX Network in Armenia
comstar says it has started building a wireless broadband network based on the 802.16e standard WiMAX technology in the Republic of Armenia. The project is expected to be completed in the second part of 2008. Cornet, an Internet services provider in the Republic of Armenia and a part of comstar Group has commisioned the WiMAX network. Cornet has a license to use 3.6-3.8 GHz frequency range throughout the territory of Armenia. more
