Survey: Mobile Sector Expects to Buck Economic Trend in 2009
New research, commissioned by OSS vendor, comptel has found that mobile service providers are surprisingly upbeat about the mobile sector's potential in the year ahead. The research found that over half expect mobile operators to be less affected than the wider economy and the majority think that mobile operators face less of a challenge than service providers from other sectors of the communications industry. more

Axtel Uses Comptel Dynamic OSS to Support Number Portability in Mexico
comptel has announced that MexicoĂ's Axtel is using its mediation, provisioning and activation solutions to support the newly launched number portability in the country. comptel Convergent Mediation Solution supports the correct recording and billing of new subscribers ported into AxtelĂ's network; comptel Provisioning and Activation Solution manages both the process of porting in (new subscribers to Axtel's network) as well as porting out (subscribers choosing to take their number to another service provider). more

Operators' OSS unready for Fixed Mobile Convergence
A recent poll by comptel Corp has found that operators around the globe have not prepared their OSS for the advent of Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC). The poll, carried out at comptelĂ's annual user group, found that while 41 per cent of respondents stated their OSS was 'somewhatĂ' ready, 39 per cent admitted to being completely unprepared for FMC. This was despite the fact that a majority of operators questioned were planning to deploy a FMC strategy in the short-term (50%). more

comptel has announced that it will deliver its Roaming Management Solution for Cosmote Romania. Cosmote Romania selected comptel to deploy the solutionĂ's Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange (NRTRDE) functionality, aimed at preventing mobile roaming fraud. more
